We are actively seeking a Master's student to investigate bumble bee assemblages within urban green spaces in Louisiana, beginning in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026. The successful applicant will assess species diversity and colony density in relation to environmental characteristics across community gardens, parks, arboretums, and other urban habitats. This project offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of pollinator health, urban ecology, and conservation biology, with strong potential to stakeholder engagement and applied outcomes. Applicants with experience in fieldwork, insect identification, and GIS are especially encouraged to apply. We strongly encourage applications from individuals from historically excluded and underrepresented backgrounds in science, including but not limited to BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and first-generation college students.
To apply, please send a CV, cover letter outlining your interest in the position, and contact information for two references to mchristman@agcenter.lsu.edu. Please put "Urban Bumble Bee Ecology Graduate Application" as the email subject line.
If you are interested in applying for a postdoctoral fellowship, please email mchristman@agcenter.lsu.edu to discuss potential options. Thank you!
